Vilamendhoo water villas. Spa massage rooms are on the right.
Vilamendhoo resort and spa is located in the South Ari Atoll of the Maldives and we have just spent an absolutely wonderful week discovering the jollies of this not so small idyllic resort grounds.
I know in the past l have mentioned Maldives as being on our bucket list of places to visit. It shot back up the list thanks to an irresistible flight deal from British Airways. We debated about going for at least ten whole seconds :-).
Sep 21, 2019 @ 9:39 AMA colorful horse and his handler on the streets of New Delhi celebrating a Hindu holiday.
During our visit to India, we were fortunate enough to experience one of the many Hindu festivals that take place in New Delhi. The monsoon season which always brings lots of rainfall to South India and runs from June to early October had just ended .

I think after all that wetness, the people were extremely happy to have good weather and another reason to celebrate. From what l gather October is the start of many a festival, culminating with Diwali, the biggest autumn hindu festival, and one that is celebrated by millions (Hindus, Sikhs and Jains) over a five day period with fireworks and plenty of family feasts.
The bike bath on the Venice board walk is one of the many things to see in Los Angeles.
Los Angeles – our recent visit had me reminiscing about various places in this metropolis. You know that saying, you can’t go home again? Well, we went back to Los Angeles, a place l called home for twenty years (minus a month 🙂 ) and it felt good. It wasn’t just the part of seeing old friends and people l consider family, it was also the pleasure l took in being a tourist in what was once my backyard.

Los Angeles Travel Guide: the best places
Years ago, when friends would visit, l would drop them off at Universal or Venice Beach while l went to work, never fully enjoying things that Los Angeles had to offer. After a while, everywhere just becomes home, and you fail to see the beauty anymore. The traffic sucks, so a drive to the beach has you thinking if you want to deal with the 2 way or longer each way traffic. It was nice to visit at our own leisure this time. It made me appreciate Los Angeles a bit more. Here are five iconic destinations that should be included in any L.A trip itinerary.
This Paris postcard was sent to me by a girl named Zoe. Looking from the date, it is from 1998. As with everything with me, there is a story behind it :-). My best friend Steph and l had gone to Paris for a little vacation. In the good old days, you just showed up at a place and then found a hotel. Unbeknown to us, there was a huge, no make that massive convention/protest (never found out what it was!) in Paris! Traffic ground to a stop kind of thing. Impossible to get a cab, or get on the train. Maddening crowds. We were totally screwed. We ended up finding a room at this wickedly over priced hotel. If memory serves me right, the room was about the size of my thumb nail and cost us about $330 for the night! The room smelled and you had to walk on the bed to get to the minuscule bathroom. We were exhausted after our 3-4 hour search and went right to bed.
Our day in New Delhi with a native included seeing India Gate in New Delhi.
How to spend a day in New Delhi with a local: We decided to do some sightseeing during our visit to India as it provided some welcome relief from the hospital appointment filled days. I was definitely not interested in living like a local by taking a bus or one of those death on 3 wheels tuk-tuks to get around (apart form clinic appointment runs). No thank you. Perfectly happy to ride in a very new, air-conditioned SUV driven by a competent driver :-).

We had no idea what we wanted to see or eat. It just had to be Indian cuisine. We therefore chose to let the driver decided on our New Delhi day itinerary. As we had already visited Humayun’s tomb, that was off the table. Here are the places he chose to show us to on our day in New Delhi.
