More often than not, my interviews have been with people who moved out of their native countries in search of a better way of life. In this episode, I interview the interviewer, host Muyiwa Adebiyi, London born and bred about his visit and impressions of the United States, and many other topics.

One of the many icons of the city. London’s Tower Bridge. What’s not to love?

Now that the holiday festivities are over in Spain with the official ending being the day of Epiphany on the 6th, things are slowly getting back to as normal as we can hope for. If you follow us on YouTube, you would have seen the Christmas settings around the city.

Muyiwa’s podcast is eclectic at best and l love the variety of speakers he has had on his show. I enjoy hearing from ex-pats (including moi!), nomads, people who help others with various addictions, Bohemians, Martial artists, gamers, cancer survivors, filmmakers, and so much more.

Flexing his muscles ๐Ÿ™‚

The mix keeps me coming back because his show is quite “like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re going to get”. He handles it all with aplomb. I swear Brits make everything sound good, thanks to the accent! ๐Ÿ™‚

Since this show is mostly focused on travels, it was only right that l should ask him about his trip to the United States and his impressions of the east coast on the whole. This was before all the shenanigans that are occuring there.

Some of the highlights of the podcast interview:

  • Where he lives now
  • Why he only speaks English.
  • Visiting his parents’ birth country and what it felt like.
  • Chasing success at whatever your goal is.
  • What he thinks of Nigeria and its future.
  • Why people shouldn’t travel with rose-colored glasses or fall for the snake-oil salesmen.
  • His travel to America and what he thought of it on the whole.
  • Realizing how veterans are used to fight wars but then abandoned when they come back home.
  • His desire to bring much-needed awareness to soldiers suffering from PSTD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) through his daily challenge.
  • The marathon that was supposed to happen in 2020 and got canceled, like a whole lot of everything in the world.
  • Kettlebells (what l called ball thingies!) ๐Ÿ™‚
  • The pandemic and bizarre Netflix shows that he’s gorging on.
  • Life in London now and desire for more space.
  • His favorite place to live if he had to pick.
  • Best action movie scenes ever (boy was he surprised when l got it right! No rom-com for this girl! haha!)

It’s always fun doing interviews as the host, but I also enjoy hearing about the host’s story as well I urge you to listen to his podcast as you will invariably find a topic you like.

I hope everyone had a safe and happy New year celebration, even with all the quarantines in place. 2021 is shaping up to be a duplicate of last year. We can only hope things change for the better.

  1. OK, duly noted! I’ll prepare a list of places to see in Bucharest based on scenes from Van Damme movies :)) Listening to the podcast, I realized that I actually haven’t seen the Blade movies. For some reason, I always associated them with the Underworld series (which I didn’t really like) so I passed on them. It seems that there are some wrongs I have to right ๐Ÿ™‚

Regarding action scenes, I would like to contribute with the final fight scene in Equilibrium – it’s the epiphany of absurd action scenes, with the main character just cruising through the tens of armed people without getting a single scratch. A really underrated movie that had the bad luck of coming after The Matrix.

Also, the fight scenes in John Wick are really good. I just saw the third one a few days ago on Netflix and both the scene at the beginning (when he fights Boban) and the one with the dogs are top notch.

    • Haha! Yes please have the list ready! That would be the ultimate tourist attraction for me. Oh, you gotta see Blade, at least the first one. It was AWESOME in my opinion. The others were good too, but they did not live up to the first. Just like Underworld where l loved the first one, but they lad lost me by the 3rd. That wrong you must right! Hahah

Well, shut my mouth. I just realized l never watched Equilibrium! I have no idea why l thought of Minority Report as the same movie, but guess what movie l am going to look for this afternoon? It looks awesome, and the last scene which l immediately looked up ๐Ÿ™‚ reminds me of John Woo, so two thumbs up. It really must have gotten lost because l have hardly even seen it on TV or mentioned. My wrong to right, so thanks for that.

I agree the John Wick ones are great. The list goes on. Yeah, we just rewatched it a couple of weeks ago, and l will never look at a book the same way again. It’s a weapon! Loved the sequence with the dogs. I might just rewatch the trilogy again soon. It’s been insanely cold here so seems everyone is staying at home, us included.

  2. Thank you for another very interesting podcast, he sounds like someone who knows what he wants and is working hard to get it. He also knows his action movie scenes ๐Ÿ™‚
Knights Bridge or Chelsea? You have expensive tastes KemKem ๐Ÿ™‚ I love London, but I am glad to live near the sea now, it is so relaxing.

    • Thanks for listening Gilda. Yes, I agree with you, he is certainly trying to find his way in the world which is admirable and l love his commitment to awareness. His current challenge is for bowel cancer and he keeps up with it on his FB page with over 20,000 followers.

I know right? I have super expensive tastes… haha! I would add Battersea to the list, but only reluctantly. I suppose if l could afford to stay there, it would go without saying l might have a place close to the sea too…haha!
