It’s always a pleasure when I get to interview friends for the podcast. This was the case this week as l got to chat with Albert and Barbara Roldan who have made Valencia their home after a stint in France. Having known them for about two years now, I have enjoyed seeing them on a regular basis and have been keen to have them share their story. The stars aligned, and l was able to corral them for a quick chat on life in Spain, and beyond.

Wowzer! When the quarantine started just a few months ago, I, like a lot of people thought it would blow over pretty quickly and since we weren’t doing any traveling, I revived the podcast interviews that l had started five years ago. 20 weekly episodes in, no end in sight for the pandemic, and with still no foreseeable travel, Here is an update of the new normal life in Valencia and the changes forthcoming.

After what seemed like eons instead of just over three weeks, we have finally moved into our new home in Valencia. It feels freaking fantastic and we feel so accomplished to have pulled it off with limited Spanish and determination. True, it wasn’t a total gut job, but it was tricky enough to make one apprehensive. Here are pictures of our “new to us” remodelled Valencia flat.

After our very long and intense search for a new place in Valencia, I’m happy to report that we found a really wonderful apartment to call home for the next year, maybe even more. The saying “all things happen for a good reason” certainly applies here. We missed out on several places that we thought would have been a good fit and were disappointed and or mad when they happened. Looking back, we realize that everything bad led us to this good one. Here are a few lessons learned along the way as well as pictures from our new home.
