blogabration as nextbiteoflife turns 3

Our little old blog is three years old, and we couldn’t be happier. In honor of this monumental occasion, I have randomly made up the word “Blogabration” . We’re actually 3 years and 1 month to be exact. It’s just taken me a while to get to writing about it. In the three short years of the blog’s existence, we have seen many others start with a bang, only to  fizzle out with a whimper. We subscribe to the slow and steady wins the race mentality. In our case, really slow as we don’t want this to become a “job”.

The blog started as a way to document our travels. When we’re old and gray, we want to be able to look back and see where we’ve been and what we’ve eaten. A blog sounded like a good way to do this, plus it had the added benefit of the family being able to keep track of our whereabouts.  This wasn’t the first foray into the blogging world either. Right after the painful crash of 2008, I started blogging anonymously about  financial and tenant problems. As things improved, I let it go so l could move into a new phase of life.

New Look:

I had been thinking of a new design for the blog for a long, long, time. Travel got in the way as it always seems to do. Regular readers know that 2016 was a big one for us travel wise. We have yet to travel this year except for our 2 quick trips to Valencia to check out our future home. We are leaving Seville after two wonderful years. It was only supposed to be one, but stayed one more. We’re going to miss it a lot, but we feel like it’s time to experience someplace else. We’re not going too far though, Valencia is only 4 hours by train from Seville. I hope you like the new design of the blog. I would love to have your input on the look and feel. I’m hoping all those web design classes l took in Malta did not go to waste ;-) .

We are blessed!

What now?

My hope is to get the blog to a point where it starts generating income, at least enough to support the hosting and all the other behind the scenes crap.  I won’t plaster it with ads, but from time to time, I will take on sponsored posts that align with the focus of the blog. Since I’m not too proud to beg :-), I would like you to consider using any affiliate links that we have on the site. We have awesome ones like Amazon and hotels combined. In case you’re considering starting your own blog, it would be lovely for you to use our affiliate link. The best part is that you would still be paying the same amount of money, we will just earn a small  commission. We definitely appreciate it. Shameless plug here. Yes.. I can design your website! :-) . I also want to get back to the podcasts with expats. I really enjoying chatting with travelers who are forging their way through life on their own terms.

An amazing sunset in Bangkok.

Thank you so much for reading our little blog. Your loyalty means a lot. We will continue to bring you stories of our future travels, both the good, and the oh so very bad. What do you think of the new theme? Any suggestions? Did I miss anything?
