A dedicated post to the amazing Wynwood District graffiti artwork. I’ve always wanted to share some more pictures from Miami, Florida. Get ready for an image heavy post of really awesome urban graffiti in the hip and colourful area known as the Wynwood District.
Graffiti Miami:
We had a chance to visit last year after our cruise to the Dominican Republic. We spent a few hours in the neighborhood walking around and taking pictures of the amazing body or work by artists from all over the world. A former warehouse district, the late Tony Goldman conceived the idea of revitalising the neighbourhood by transforming the buildings into “giant canvases and bring the greatest street art ever seen in one place”.

The intention was to make Wynwood become a place that people would gravitate to and therefore develop the pedestrian potential. I would say mission accomplished as the Wynwood Walls, and in fact the district has now become one of the must see places on any visit to Miami. We certainly enjoyed our time there. Here are some of our favourite murals from this colorful section of Miami.
Awesome Urban Graffiti Wynwood District:
There are more than 50 artists and 16 countries represented at Wynwood. The art covers over 80,000 square feet of walls.

Have you ever been to Miami? If so, did you visit the Wynwood District ? What do you think of the awesome urban graffiti in colourful Wynwood? Do you agree this is art or do you think it’s vandalism?
First of ll great news that you have found an apartment. Looking forward to seeing more of Valencia as it looks like an amazing city. We really enjoy urban art and now seek it out wherever we go. Wynwood looks fantastic and if we ever get to Miami we will definitely visit. In some areas we know that home and business owners get frustrated by graffiti but overall it adds character and colour to some otherwise very bleak scenes. Thanks for sharing.
We are so loving the place so far :-). Yep! It is quite an amazing city and we have so much still to discover. We also try and seek out urban art now when we travel. It definitely adds character. I remember in Ghent that they had a whole alley devoted to it, quite big. I understand the frustration with owners though. Beauty or not, I wouldn’t want it on my property..a designated place..yes.. :-). This is awesome though and we loved it.
Wynwood definitely looks revitalized to me! I’d love to stroll the streets and see the awesome pop and graphic art and I like the whole action movie vibe as well. Lots to chose from for favorites but I think the Hands painting as well as the art on the Brick House get my vote! Anita
It is pretty cool. I love the fact that new things pop up all the time and you never know what the next corner might bring. The Hands painting is definitely one of my favorites. We wanted so badly to go into the Brick House, but we were totally under dressed in shorts :-).
Ohemgee! These are absolutely stunning. I love how they all are intricately designed and are very colorful. I have to see these in person!
You definitely do! It is an absolutely marvelous area, so colorful and vibrant. We loved it.
Oh wow, such great art! I lived in Ft. Lauderdale and went to college in Miami. Next time I go home I’ll have to visit the Wynwood district for sure!
Definitely make sure you visit on your next trip. Totally worth it. Really worth it in my humble opinion. 🙂
Have not been to Miami yet but it’s on the list. Wynwood looks wonderful I love all the colorful artwork. I definitely think of it as art. I’ll be sure to visit the brick house when I go ☺
I think it’s art too. It really takes a lot of imagination, dedication and time to accomplish those amazing pieces. You definitely should visit Wynwood when you make it to Miami. Yeah…that Brick House was jumping. I have a feeling it’s pretty cool and jazzy inside :-).
This looks like an amazing place to visit & see some beautiful art. Certainly going to have to put Wynwood on my vacation list.
You do have to put it on the list. It’s a very cool place and l just love the art.
Way to go on finding a new home! Great photos of the murals. The one you titled man baby I think the artist’s projection is close to what you said and that is men are big babies. Though I’m a little puzzled about his feet. It looks to me like the big baby is wearing ice skates!
Thanks Cheryl. We learned a few things along the way that would have made it easier had we known, but live and learn. The man baby does indeed have skates on. I stared at it for a long time trying to figure it out.. His pose is suggestive, like trying to be sexy, but instead comes off as a big baby..haha! Just like a lot of men?..bwawwaahhhh 🙂 😉 :-).
These are beautiful pieces. I love the vibrant colors and uniqueness.
Definitely beautiful. Thee are so many, many more that we missed.
These murals are gorgeous! Congrats on finding a place to live!
Thanks Latoya. Love those murals too :-).
I am so glad you found a new home!! Congratulations. I laughed at your not so good news..and I feel just like you..how do we accumulate so much stuff? Brian and I are trying to get rid of a lot of our “stuff” so we can downsize and move to a much smaller property. It has been traumatic 🙁 I absolutely love you street art photos, amazing collection of gorgeous art. Miami is on my list of places I want to visit, I will make sure to visit Wynwood District if I make it there.
Thanks Gilda. I really am gobsmacked at how much stuff we have managed to accumulate in such a short time. This place has so much storage and it seems like we have managed to fill it. Good luck with downsizing ;-). You should definitely put Wynwood on your must see places when you get to Miami. Worth it :-).
Dope pictures, I’ve been to Miami a billion times but I’ve not made it to Wynwood. We are going this summer and I’m going to make it a priority for sure.
I love everything about Miami. This fab street art is just another reason for me to love this city. I can’t pick a favorite cause they’re all so fabulous.
I was just telling my friend yesterday about how I love the Wynwood area. I have been here and taken so many IG/FB worthy shots its so artsy and pretty here.
Haha! Great minds :-). It really is a cool place and l was duly impressed. Just sorry it took me so long to get to Florida :-). Definitely a pretty, pretty setting.
OMG! This art is beautiful! I love the bold colors and the details of the art. I will have to make it a point to add this to my visit on my next trip. So glad you all found an apartment, I know how frustrating it could be. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Daria. It was frustrating, but we have pretty much forgotten all the bad parts since we moved in. We really like the place :-). The murals are definitely eye catching and yes..beautiful. You do need to add it to the list. Definitely worth it :-).
Very nice…love all the colours, great way to spruce up a neighborhood.

Definitely. You can still see how the transition is coming along in parts of the district. I hope it keeps on spreading out. 🙂
Awesome pictures! These walls are a blogger’s dream, lol!
Thanks! Yep..they certainly are :-).
Hmmm. Maybe title it. Men are big babies skating on thin ice. Men are big babies skating through life.
Haha!!! I love both of them, especially the second.. 🙂 ;-).
Gorgeous! I would love to take pictures by all of these walls!
Aren’t they? We had so much fun!
Amazing photos ! This street art is breath-taking. Miami has so many different facets to its diverse neighborhoods that it’s hard to believe it all fits in one place.
Thank you :-). It was our first time in Miami and getting to see this was a highlight of the visit. So many talented artists represented. It is hard to believe they can fit them all in one place for sure. Thanks for reading and for the comment.
